The artist Olafur Eliasson was selected by an international panel of curators that had come together in April 2004 to discuss the next move for the BMW Art Car Collection. And in 2007 Eliasson – one of the foremost representatives of the contemporary art world – duly created the 16th BMW Art Car. Serving as the artist’s canvas was a technological milestone: the BMW H2R. The BMW Group used the H2R to pursue its vision of a sustainable form of mobility based on regeneratively produced hydrogen as a fuel of the future.
