One of the centrepieces of BMW Group Classic is its collection of vehicles from the company’s past. Some 1,400 production cars and motorcycles, aero engines and boat engines, racing machines and concept vehicles provide a visually captivating testament to the BMW Group’s product history. Also among the exhibits on display in the climate-controlled rooms are artworks on four wheels; indeed, the unique Art Car Collection occupies a space of its own.
Although its brightest spotlight is reserved for the core brands BMW, BMW Motorrad, MINI and Rolls-Royce, the collection also includes examples of models from associated marques such as Dixi and Glas.
Given the huge variety of products that have graced the last 100+ years of mobility history at BMW, finding a place in the collection for every model variant simply isn’t possible. So a panel of specialists from various Classic departments come together at regular intervals to decide which vehicles will bear witness to BMW’s product history next. Needless to say, opinions are also sought from expert minds in the development, sales and design wings of the company.
